Join us for our weekly Sunday Love Feast as we observe Pavitropana Ekadashi. Ekadashi is a sacred day observed twice each month in the devotional tradition followed by ISKCON. It offers an opportunity to simplify our routines and give more attention to prayer, spiritual reflection, and service to Krishna.
The program will include musical mantra meditation, a discussion about the path of devotion, a traditional temple offering with musical meditation and dancing, and a free vegetarian meal. Everyone is welcome!
ISKCON members traditionally observe Ekadashi by avoiding grains and beans while spending more time chanting, hearing spiritual teachings, reading scripture, praying, and serving others. Some people choose a stricter fast, while others eat simple foods without grains or beans according to their health and circumstances. The purpose is not simply to follow dietary restrictions, but to make more time and space for remembering Krishna.
Those observing the fast should break it on Monday, August 24, between 6:23 AM and 10:50 AM EDT. This recommended time for breaking the fast is calculated for Bear, Delaware.
