“No one within ten miles of a temple should go hungry . . . I want you to immediately begin serving food.”

-ISKCON Founder-Acharya Srila Prabhupada

ISKCON of Delaware, Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, serves approximately 3000 free meals every year to the residents of Delaware. Our mission is to create peace and prosperity in Delaware through the liberal distribution of pure food prepared with loving intention. All meals are prepared with plant-based ingredients and dairy products. In its purest form, food has the innate ability to break down barriers and heal body, mind, and soul. Therefore, we serve only the purest of food—food that is devoid of animal suffering, prepared with love and served with love. Our mission flows from its core values of charity and respect for all living things; its services, therefore, are provided without regard to race, creed, color, religion, sex, community, or nationality.

According to Bhagavad Gita, food that is prepared in mode of goodness, such as pure vegetarian preparations freshly cooked and served, increases one’s duration of life, purifies the mind and aid bodily strength.

Meals primarily consist of rice, lentils (varieties of beans), vegetables, spinach and spices.
