Come spend a Sunday with us.
Walking into a new spiritual community can feel a little unfamiliar. We want your first visit to feel easy.
You are welcome to join us for live music and mantra meditation, thoughtful conversation, a traditional ceremony, and a free vegetarian lunch. Come on your own, bring a friend, or bring the family.
You do not need to know anything about ISKCON or bhakti yoga before you arrive. There is no expectation that you believe a certain way or participate in everything. Come as you are, take it in at your own pace, and ask whatever questions come to mind.

What Happens on Sunday?
11:00 a.m. — Music and Mantra Meditation
We begin with kirtan, a joyful form of meditation using music and repeated mantra.
The music may be peaceful or energetic, with singing, drums, and other instruments. You can sing along, clap, or simply sit and listen. There is no right way to experience it.
11:30 a.m. — Spiritual Discussion
Next, we explore ideas from the Bhagavad-gita and the tradition of bhakti yoga.
The conversation may touch on questions about happiness, purpose, relationships, the mind, our connection with God, and how spiritual practice can become part of everyday life.
No previous knowledge is needed. Questions are always welcome.
12:30 p.m. — Arati Ceremony
Arati is a traditional ceremony in which offerings such as light, incense, flowers, and water are presented to Krishna with music and prayer.
Some people sing and participate while others quietly observe. Both are completely welcome.
1:00 p.m. — Vegetarian Lunch
After the program, everyone is invited to stay for prasadam—a vegetarian meal prepared and offered to Krishna with devotion before being shared.
Lunch is relaxed and informal. It is often the best time to meet people, ask questions, and get a feel for the community.
A Few Things to Know Before You Come
Come as you are.
You do not need traditional Indian clothing or formal attire. Comfortable clothing appropriate for a spiritual gathering is perfectly fine.
Leave your shoes near the entrance.
As is customary in our tradition, shoes are removed before entering the temple room. There is a designated place for them inside the entrance.
Participate as much—or as little—as you like.
You are welcome to sing, dance, ask questions, and take part. You are equally welcome to sit quietly and observe.
Let someone know it is your first visit.
A member of our community will be glad to help you get settled, explain what is happening, or answer any questions you may have.
Bring the family.
Children and visitors of all ages are welcome. We understand that children may need to move around or step outside occasionally.
You do not need to bring anything.
The program and meal are free. Donations are appreciated but never required.
Questions You May Be Wondering About
Is ISKCON of Delaware open to everyone?
Yes! People from many different backgrounds visit ISKCON of Delaware. Some are spiritually curious, some practice other faiths, and some simply enjoy the music, community, philosophy, and vegetarian meal. Everyone is welcome.
Do I need to know Sanskrit or the chants?
Definitely not! The mantras are repeated, and you can follow along if you feel comfortable. We typically will have the mantras displayed on a screen as well. Listening quietly is also a meaningful way to participate.
Will I know what to do?
Not at first—and that is completely normal! We are here to help guide you in any way you need.
Watch what others are doing, participate when you feel comfortable, or ask someone nearby. Nobody expects a first-time visitor to understand every part of the program.
Will anyone pressure me?
No. You are our guest. We are happy to share our beliefs and practices and answer your questions, but you are welcome to participate as much or as little as you feel comfortable.
Can I come if I am just curious?
Absolutely. Curiosity is a perfectly good reason to visit, and it’s how many people first discover ISKCON of Delaware.
Some people come because they’re interested in meditation or the Bhagavad-gita. Others are looking for spiritual community, want to experience kirtan, or simply enjoy sharing a vegetarian meal and meeting new people.
Do I have to stay for the entire program?
No. We hope you can experience the full gathering and stay for lunch, but you are welcome even if your schedule does not allow you to stay the whole time.
We Look Forward to Meeting You!
Many members of our community can remember arriving at an ISKCON temple for the first time and not knowing quite what to expect.
Come enjoy the music, hear the discussion, share a meal, and take in a new experience.
We would be happy to welcome you.
